Deer hunters remanded in Mithi police custody |
MITHI: The civil court of Mithi on Wednesday remanded three suspected hunters in police custody for one day for further interrogation about illegal hunting of rare species of deer near Rangilo village a day before.
The suspects Ali Ahmed Rajar, Abdul Salam Bari and Abdul Ghani were arrested after officials of the wildlife department registered complaint against them under the Wildlife Act.
However, police failed to arrest the remaining two suspects identified as Mohammad Saleem Nohrio and Mohammad Hassan, who managed to escape after firing at the residents of the village.
Meanwhile, a large number of villagers and members of civil society resumed their protest against unabated hunting of animals at Kashmir Chowk for the second consecutive day.
The villagers buried carcasses of the hunted deer at a piece of land reserved for the deer in Rangilo village.
Bhagat Maturam, Siraj Soomro, Aftab Samejo and other villagers and activists told media persons that they had set a new precedent by setting up a graveyard exclusively for the deer.
